“Find Your Ontological Center” is a performance of publication, presented by Community Mausoleum and Cleveland Review of Books. A reading of a parking lot to a parking lot on April 26, 2025 at 5:30 p.m., and a corresponding zine (this object), “FYOC” interrogates ways of wayfinding, remaking terms of locational meaning via processes inspired by and enacted in relation to the Cedar Lee Parking Lot—a shared ontological center. Prompted by essential questions of centrality, navigation, and conceptual orientation, “Find Your Ontological Center” brings together ten Cleveland-based and adjacent writers to variously form a collective answer.
What is a parking lot? What is land? What are your waypoints? How do you orient? Where are you located? What is central? How do you know?
